Declaring God’s Goodness in the Nations

by Dwane Reitz on May 25, 2021

In the midst of the darkness in our world, God is moving and revealing His goodness and His glory in the nations. Here are a few “God sightings” from some of Petra’s missionaries.

Joe & Jeniece Kingman (USA & Tanzania):
At YWAM Orlando, we sent a group of young men and women to minister in Tanzania. We laid hands on the deaf and they received hearing along with over 80 other healings. Over 1,200 people surrendered their lives to the Lord. The team came back completely set on fire for God!

Bruce & Joyce Heckman (USA):
Recently in our meeting, a man from Central Asia gave a testimony of someone reading Revelation 3:20 to him. He began to shake from emotion because his father divorced his mother when he was only a year-and-a-half old. He always longed for a father, and now opened the door for his heavenly Father to enter and remain.

Brad Ortenzi (USA):
In this season of building and expanding ZOE East Coast, I see God’s goodness in his favor.  I’m amazed at the doors He has opened to build His kingdom. When I look back at the start of this project, I realize that in all my doubts and concerns, He came through with whatever I needed.

Nicole Hurst (USA & Uganda):
I am co-leading a team of young adults on 2 months of outreach in Uganda. We are doing crusades, village ministry, and school and sports ministry. In the first 3 weeks of our outreach we have seen 24 healings, 3,500 gospel seeds planted, 506 salvations, and 107 people delivered from demonic oppression.

Daniel & Jamie Jones (Canada):
We’ve been amazed how God has led, inspired and challenged students and InterVarsity staff across Canada to create and delve into the Arts—performing and visual—as a way of engaging scripture and reflecting on their experiences of this season! This has resulted in an abundance of beautiful art, pointing people to Jesus and 5 online galleries and showcases.

Mario & Jeanette Araya (Costa Rica):
We see God’s grace and love and the work of the Holy Spirit changing lives in Costa Rica. Recently, 7 new believers were baptized. When I saw how these new believers worship and rejoice in the presence of God, I can see that God’s goodness continues moving in the world. God is good and nothing stops the work of the Holy Spirit!

Tina Moore (Guatemala):
God demonstrated and revealed His goodness when I presented teen girls [in an orphanage] with tiaras to represent their beauty and value in the Lord. The girls were in awe of the beauty of the tiaras and the fact that God viewed them as such. Isaiah 62:3 helped to implant this truth in their hearts.

Marta Estrada (Colombia):
The Holy Spirit is doing a new thing here. People are leaving their sinful ways. Bible classes are more alive. People are seeking God with true repentance and a new heart. We are living the book of Acts in these days. The ladies in prostitution and the ladyboys are asking us for prayer and for new jobs.

Alan & Carol Wert (Wales):
Our relationships with neighbors, school friends, community, and extended family have been limited under lockdown. But we have been grateful for our relationships with our young adult children which have grown stronger over this last year. God is good!

Les & Suzanne Yoder (Moldova):
In spite of travel restrictions, AgConnect Ministries (ACM) expanded involvement with a Christian university in Moldova—working with students from Central Asia who want to use agriculture to share the Gospel in Muslim countries and communities. ACM is helping to provide training and practical experience by placing those students on farms with which ACM has been working.

JC Ebersole (Africa):
We thank God for His goodness in enabling AABS (Africa Association of Bible Schools) to move forward despite the pandemic. We entered two new countries—Uganda and Kenya—and appointed a national director for each. 20 new member Bible schools were started and well over 350 students graduated in various countries.

Randy & Bonnie Martin (Kenya):
Preparing the Way Ministries has experienced the miraculous hand of God. A team joined us from YWAM Lancaster for 7 weeks of outreach. God brought 395 salvations and 45 confirmed healings. We served food to over 200 families, completed 3 building projects, and ministered to thousands. We have seen God transforming lives and providing miracles like never before!

Nacho & Merrilee Barrera (Thailand):
Even while based stateside in the midst of the pandemic, we have seen the goodness of God at work amongst the Isaan people in Thailand. CityLights Church continues to move forward: Gathering together, worshipping, seeing new converts, and baptizing. This can only happen because of how God is revealing Himself to each of them.

Trevor & Leah Derr (Indonesia):
Recently a new friend of one of our teammates here in Indonesia asked for a Bible and started to “devour it.” He started in Genesis and kept reading and reading. He wanted to understand every chapter and what it meant about God. God is continually drawing people to Himself!

“Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.” (Psalms 105:1)
