September 6, 2020 updated

Due to the increasing divisiveness and confusion from federal, state, and local leaders, along with religious freedom issues, a desire to obey our leaders, as well as medical experts who present differing recommendations, church leaders have been thrust into a no-win situation. We do not feel it is the church's place to try and police unenforceable government mandates.   In light of this, we are asking each person to make their own decision and to follow their own conviction about wearing masks. We will continue to provide social distanced seating in our sanctuary and an additional room for those who want an environment with everyone wearing a mask. We will also continue online options for those who are not yet comfortable attending in person. Let’s do our best to respect and not judge each other’s motives and hearts on this matter. We will get through this.

COVID-19 Policy for Petra Church

All attendees, employees, and volunteers must make every effort to minimize the spread of COVID-19 through diligent hand washing, use of hand sanitizers, and social distancing from others.

If you are asked to serve in a volunteer capacity and are uncomfortable doing so, please let us know. We will release you from this without hesitation.

If you have symptoms of COVID-19, are waiting for test results, or have tested positive:

Do not come to church or attend any church activities until a health professional and your supervisor release you to do so.

If you haven’t been tested but suspect you may have COVID-19, ask to be tested, and please stay home and self-quarantine for 14 days until you are sure you do not have the virus.

If you are sick, do not come to church, even if you think it is just a regular cold or flu. Stay home and get well. You can remain in contact with your team though Zoom, etc.

If you have been around someone who has tested positive for COVID-19:

If someone you live with or someone you have been in close, direct contact with has tested positive, do not come to church or attend any church activities until your health provider or supervisor release you to do so.

If someone you have been in direct contact with is diagnosed with the COVID-19 virus, you are directed to self-quarantine for 14 days, even if you have no symptoms.

If you have recently traveled to a CDC Level 3 country, self-isolate for 14 days.

Response to a positive COVID-19 person:

All staff and volunteers upon receipt of a positive result are asked to advise their team leader immediately. Once a team leader receives word of a positive test for COVID-19 from one of their team or a volunteer, they will promptly notify Ken Reinford and Tim Jensen, who will notify colleagues who may have been exposed while at church.

Petra Church will strive to maintain confidentiality to the best of its ability. This however is secondary to the health and safety of our team. If there is a positive COVID-19 test result, those who may have been directly exposed will be notified for their safety. Any facility area the person was in will be deep cleaned before reopening.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience during this unique season.
